It has been a little colder this past week or so, but at least we have not had to deal with any significant snow storms.
Below I have provided you with links to the agendas for the upcoming Northwest Community Council, Regional Council, and Budget Committee on Transit meetings. Please let me know if you have questions or ideas.
I have included a “final reminder” regarding the West Bedford parks and amenities survey. If you have not already done so, you can complete it prior to Monday.

Thursday, March 4, 2021 (Halifax, NS) – The Halifax Regional Municipality continues to monitor and respond to the rapidly evolving impacts of COVID-19. The following is an update on municipal services.
As directed by the province, new public health guidelines will take effect in the Halifax Regional Municipality as of Friday, March 5 at 8 a.m.
Effective Friday, March 5 spectators will be permitted at municipally-owned facilities. The following arenas will be increasing their spectator capacity as follows:
- BMO Centre: Pads A, B and C (50), Pad D (100)
- Centennial Arena (50)
- Cole Harbour Place: Scotia 1 (85), Scotia 2 (35)
- Eastern Shore Arena (60)
- Halifax Civic Arena (75)
- Halifax Forum Arena (100)
- LeBrun Arena (50)

- Spryfield Arena (50)

Although provincial restrictions will allow for up to 100 spectators, not every venue can safely accommodate those numbers at this time. Staffing, configuration and size of the venue must be considered on a case-by-case basis. Safety remains our top priority.
Rental groups will continue to be responsible for COVID-19 screening and tracking of all spectators. No food or drink is permitted, and masks must be worn at all times.
For more information and to review full regulations, visit the website.
For spectator capacities in other facilities, please call your local facility.
Facility bookings & rentals
Rentals at municipally-owned and operated recreation facilities, community centres, and arenas will continue as scheduled. As directed by the province, groups of up to 60 are now permitted for practice, training and games.
Residents are reminded that all activities must follow current public health restrictions.
Please contact your local facility for more information.
HRCE school bookings
The municipality coordinates facility bookings for all Halifax Regional Centre for Education (HRCE) schools for community and extracurricular school use. Community bookings will resume as of Saturday, March 6.
Recreation programming, partner facilities, gyms & pools
Fitness facilities will continue to operate at 75 per cent capacity while maintaining three metres between people during high-intensity activities. Please contact your local recreation centre for more information.
Residents are reminded they may continue to use REC at Home which offers a variety of activities that you can enjoy with your family – from arts and crafts, to at-home workouts.
